WorldPTA, the international association for the power transmission and motion control industry, announced on 6 July 2026 that it is extending its activity beyond a single Annual Global Meeting into a programme of regional meetings attached to major industrial exhibitions across four continents. For bearing and transmission buyers, the practical output is a concrete supplier-meeting calendar running from September 2026 to June 2027 — and a signal about where the industry believes its growth markets now are.
The facts
The announced programme attaches WorldPTA regional meetings, networking sessions, booths, pavilions and forums to eleven exhibitions plus the association’s own global meeting. The autumn cluster opens with Electra Mining Africa in Johannesburg (7–11 September 2026) and Mining & Metals Central Asia in Almaty (16–18 September), followed by Industrial Transformation Africa in Casablanca (29 September–1 October), the first major Hannover Messe event held on the African continent.
November is the densest month: Warsaw Industry Week (3–5 November), the tenth edition of Poland’s largest industrial fair; PTC Asia in Shanghai (3–6 November), 100,000 sqm and more than 1,800 exhibitors across hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gears and motion control; Automechanika Dubai (10–12 November) at its expanded Dubai Exhibition Centre venue with 2,400+ exhibitors; and SPS in Nuremberg (24–26 November). December brings Manufacturing Indonesia in Jakarta (2–5 December) and the China International Bearing Expo in Shanghai (9–12 December). The association’s own Bearing & Power Transmission World Meetings — 450+ delegates from 42+ countries, with pre-scheduled B2B meetings, an exhibition floor and a technical forum — takes place in Belgrade on 17–19 March 2027, followed by Expomin Chile (April 2027) and WIN Eurasia in Istanbul (June 2027).
Market implication
Read the map rather than the list. Of twelve events, three are in Africa or the Middle East, four in Asia, two in Central and Eastern Europe, one in Latin America, one in Türkiye, and exactly one in Western Europe (SPS in Nuremberg). That distribution is not an accident. Western European industrial demand has been flat to negative for several years, Germany’s mechanical sector is still working through a downturn, and Schaeffler has been closing European plants. The channel is following the volume, and the volume is in mining, energy and infrastructure economies outside the old core.
For European buyers this cuts two ways. On the sourcing side, a denser calendar of regional meetings makes it materially easier to qualify alternative manufacturers and distributors face-to-face — particularly Turkish, Indian, Chinese and Central Asian suppliers who are increasingly capable in standard metric ranges and who are now competing hard for European accounts. In a market where EU steel safeguard quotas and CBAM reporting are raising the landed cost of European-made bearings, having a qualified second or third source outside the traditional Big Four channel is no longer a hedge, it is basic supply-chain hygiene.
On the risk side, the same globalised, thinly-policed channel is where counterfeit bearings circulate. The industry has had a reminder of this recently, with a counterfeit operation in Türkiye leading to seizures and convictions. Meeting a supplier at a well-run trade event is a starting point for qualification, not a substitute for it. Authorised distribution status, traceable heat lots, factory audits and consistent packaging and marking still do the real work.
Procurement box: what buyers should do
- Action 1: Pick one or two events from the calendar that match your actual sourcing gap. For bearings specifically, PTC Asia (November) and the China International Bearing Expo (December) carry the highest supplier density; SPS Nuremberg is the European option.
- Action 2: Go with a qualification checklist, not a business-card habit: ISO certification scope, authorised brand status, traceability of steel origin, heat-lot documentation, and audited capacity.
- Action 3: Use the calendar to pressure-test incumbent pricing. A credible alternative quote sourced at a trade event is the cheapest negotiating leverage available.
- Action 4: Before any new supplier is approved, order a sample lot and have it independently verified — dimensional, hardness and material checks. Counterfeit and sub-spec product is a live risk in the global channel.
- Action 5: If you buy through a distributor, ask which of these events they attend and what new lines they expect to bring back. Their sourcing roadmap becomes your availability next year.
Looking ahead
The next decision point for most European buyers is the November cluster, when PTC Asia and SPS fall three weeks apart and Q1 2027 contract negotiations are being framed. Expect the Belgrade global meeting in March 2027 to be the more consequential event for the bearing trade specifically: it lands during the run-up to the NSK–NTN integration, and distributor networks will be positioning around what a merged Japanese number-one does to franchise agreements. Buyers who have widened their qualified supplier list before that point will negotiate 2027 contracts with options. Those who have not will be negotiating with hope.
